A Spark Carried by the Wind

Updated: 1 day ago

I wanted to write about this Mars–Uranus meeting before the weekend, but I guess I can blame Mars and Uranus for that. This conjunction was exact between July 2 and July 5.

I got hacked and lost some of my unsaved writing. I know better, or at least I thought I did.

Mars and Uranus meet about every two years, so this conjunction isn’t all that rare. But where they’re meeting is different.

For the past eight years, they came together in Taurus, the most fixed of the fixed signs, an earth sign that likes stability and holds tightly to its resources.

Have you ever had a bull standing in the middle of the road, refusing to move?

We actually had that happen during a team outing with our Razor four-wheeler in the Uinta Mountains. We simply sat there and waited for His Bull Majesty to decide he was ready to wander over to the other side of the grass. There wasn’t much we could do but wait.

There has been resistance. There has been heaviness. And sometimes, the harder we pushed, the more stuck we became, just like later that same day when we ended up stuck in a swamp with our four-wheelers during that team outing. It turned into a great bonding experience as the four of us worked together to get out of the swamp.

This time is different.

Now they’re meeting in an air sign.

Air brings movement. Perhaps a little too much speed at times. It stirs the mind, ignites ideas, and gives us room to breathe after years of feeling weighed down.

Mars is the brave, youthful part of us that gets us moving, not worrying if he’s breaking anything while rushing ahead. Uranus is the rebel who says, “My way.” Together, they create something exciting, courageous, and impossible to fully predict.

This energy wants movement.

It wants to break free from old shackles.

Sometimes that’s exactly what we need, especially if you’ve felt trapped by circumstances, old habits, familiar dynamics, or even your own comfort zone. This may be the courage to open a door that has been closed for a long time, or perhaps one you never realized was there.

Timing is everything. Maybe we’re never as late as we think we are.

But Mars and Uranus can also be impatient. They don’t always stop to ask what should come with us into the next chapter. In their excitement, they may throw out more than necessary.

After years of feeling like we were walking through mud, there is movement again.

There is fresh, fast-moving air.

There is curiosity and restless spark.

And perhaps a little trickster running through the mind as well.

And this is only the beginning.

Mars doesn’t keep the fire for itself.

It carries the spark forward into its next conversations with the Council...More on that soon.

Did an unexpected spark or disruptive idea ignite something in your life this past week? If so, where has it shown up?
